Lap and diagonal belts secure
the wheelchair occupant only.
The wheelchair should be secured
separately.
NMI lap and diagonal belts
contain two separate lengths
of webbing which allows both
inertia reels to retract uniformly
and so always contain equal
amounts of webbing. Each strap
is provided with comfort clips
which may be set to alleviate
strap pressure on the occupants
shoulder and prevent the belt
from cutting across the neck.
The reel assemblies are fitted
with steel shields to protect
the plastic covers of the
spring chambers from damage
which otherwise commonly occurs
in this kind of use.

In order to comply with International
Standard ISO 10542/2, dynamic
wheelchair test, an upper
belt must be used. This belt
comes off the shoulder belt
and is attached to the vehicle
wall. See dynamic test film.
